Hey there! My name is Kate, and welcome to my blog, A Passion for Life!
I am 21 years old and live in beautiful Southern California! I really couldn't ask for a more wonderful place to live, that is... if you ignore all the crazy drivers we have! But, for all the awesome-ness that is SoCal, I guess I can put up with a few *cough* bad drivers.
I am currently waiting to register for summer classes at a local community college so I can pursue two of my loves, music, and the Culinary Arts! My goal is to get my associates in Music Performance and in Culinary Arts before transferring to a 4 year school, but I haven't quite decided what school that will be. I still have a lot of time ahead of me to figure out all of those things!
I created this blog to share my passions with others, and to give myself a much needed outlet to express myself in words. I've never been one for keeping a diary, although I did try when I was younger. I loved the idea of that, but found it hard to actually sit down and just write, but it wasn't just that. I didn't have the... drive I guess because I was only writing for myself. With my blog, I'm not just writing for myself, I'm sharing myself with others on a personal level.
This blog, as I said before, is about my passions. I have been in love with music since I was a kid. Mom and dad put me into dance classes and piano lessons, so I've been listening to music since before I can remember. If I don't have music playing in some form, I feel like part of me is lost. I constantly have to be singing and dancing, even if it's just for me! Actually... especially if it's just for me. If I'm the only one home, the music gets turned up and I'm busy getting my groove on!
I don't just love singing, dancing, and listening to it though, I love playing it! I've been a harpist for about 9 years now, and I just love it. Plus, I get to play my awesome golden harp, Elizabeth! She's 90+ years old now. You can see the top of her column in some of the following pictures. I would post a picture of she and I, but for some reason I just can't seem to find one. You win this round, harp pictures.
I love cooking and baking, which is something I didn't learn until last year. I knew I loved eating all of those wonderful things, granted it wasn't as many because I was very picky! Although some would argue I still am... haha I'm sad it took me so long to realize how much I loved it, but I'm thankful that I have learned it.
I also love my family! My family isn't the biggest, and we are great at getting on each other's nerves, but we're still family, no matter what. My family consists of my Dad, two big sisters (Carrie and Erin), and brother (Chris); plus my brother-in-laws, my brother's fiance, my nephews, and my nieces.
This is my big sisters and I before we went out for a very belated 21st bday drink together. Erin (on the left) lives in AZ so we had to wait for her to get out to Cali and for me to get my license finally!
Yeah, we're goofs! But we are awesome goofs, so it's all good. :)
I'm also a huge nerd! I've been playing World of Warcraft for 5+ years now, below is my character, Ellette. For those of you that game, she's a Holy Pally. Oh, and btw, Horde FTW! I don't just play WoW, I'm also a huge Sims lover, and have been playing it since it first came out (aka, probably before I should have been... but that's okay because the only way to make babies at first was kissing! I mean, wait... that's how it works... right? LOL). Don't think me a wimpy gamer though, I will get on SC2 and CoD and more than likely kick your butt. Well... maybe not, but I can hope right? :P
